26 February 2014

UPDATE: Live musical entertainment for the night will be provided by local jazz band Alice Terry and the Skinny White Boys. We encourage you to check this great act out here.

The time has come to celebrate a massively successful year for JAMS and look to an even more exciting future. JAMS is continuing to grow, with new sponsors and a diversification of activities and outreach. In addition to a year of great presentations and our involvement in National Science Week, 2013 also saw the awarding of the first “JAMS grant” with a LIEF project funded by the ARC. To acknowledge these successes, and to celebrate our 3 year anniversary, this year's annual dinner and symposium will be even BIGGER and BETTER than previous years.

Thanks to continued support by the Australian museum the gala dinner will be held once again in the spectacular ‘bone room’, preceded by a stellar lineup of local and international speakers and a student poster session. There will be a live band, great food and -- in true JAMS fashion -- plenty of wine. Proving that you can’t have JAMS without TOAST, this year also sees the addition of our first workshop entitled The Omics Analysis Sydney Tutorial. Scheduled to coincide with the dinner, this workshop will provide in depth tutorials on a number of current bioinformatics tools and concepts and will raise money to support JAMS in 2014.

So come along to support grass roots microbiology in Sydney and celebrate a big year.
