Postdoctoral jobs at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere

We are recruiting two postdoctoral fellows for our new project on Environomics of coastal environments  at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere in Hobart, Tasmania.

We are seeking candidates with experience in:

1) Microbial Ecology of Coastal Environments:

* Producing and analysing metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data

* Statistical methods to link environmental and biological data

* Field sampling in marine areas

* Extraction of DNA/RNA from sediments, standard molecular methods (PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR)

2) Biogeochemistry of Coastal Environments:

* Measurement biogeochemical rates and processes, including isotope based methods

* Design of experiments to measure biogeochemical process at appropriate scales using model sediment/water systems, both ex situ (microcosms) and in situ

* Measurement of sediment chemical gradient profiles using microsensors

* Analysis and interpretation of biogeochemical data (isotope, microprofile)

* Field sampling in marine areas

I have attached the job descriptions and would be grateful if you could spread this information to potential candidates within your network.

The detailed job descriptions and application guideline are also available on CSIRO's website:

Applications open today and close by the 21st of August. Both positions are for 3 years fixed term. For informal enquiry candidates are most welcome to contact me via this email address.
