To celebrate 10 years of JAMS gatherings across the world, JAMS held its 10th Annual Symposium (JAMS10) on August 23rd and 24th 2021. This event was originally planned as an in person event, however with the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic in Sydney and across the globe, we switched to an online event.
JAMS nodes were united in a way that was never previously possible. We met in a specifically designed virtual conference centre known as “JAMS Town” where each guest was an animated character that could wander around to see talks, look at posters and network with each other.
Prominent microbiologists were featured as speakers, alongside incredible student posters (with prizes!). Networking sessions and fun games between attendees were made possible with the GatherTown online platform. Despite unusual global circumstances, JAMS10 was the perfect way to celebrate microbiology, life and JAMS with our scientific community.
As a recap of JAMS10 great highlights, check out our photo album below and be sure to read a summary of the JAMS10 conference experience written by Belinda Fabian via her blog posts here and here.
