The JAMS team is looking for a new director for Sydney JAMS, see below for more information on the role and how to apply.
Duties
As Director of the JAMS Sydney Committee, you will have total oversight of the JAMS Sydney Committee. You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing all Sydney JAMS activities (the monthly seminars, annual symposium, and special events like national science week),
- Ensuring each Sydney JAMS Committee member (around 15 people) is supported in their role, and managing personnel changes,
- JAMS Sydney future strategy and relationship-building,
- Actively building inter-team relationships and morale, and facilitating a healthy, inclusive team dynamic,
- Developing key community and sponsor relationships,
- Overseeing and providing sign-off for JAMS legal and financial activities.
What You Need To Know
- This is a volunteer role; the JAMS Sydney Committee exists to serve the broad community of microbiologists, and microbiology students, in Sydney, and beyond.
- The successful candidate will be an organised and positive person with high energy.
- Following the transition period March 2022 – June 2022, the successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of how the team runs, and key milestones throughout the year.
- The workload for this role can fluctuate throughout the year depending on community activities; the JAMS Sydney Director must be available to respond to these fluctuations.
- Experience in successful team management, strategy and community-building will be favourably considered.
- We are looking for a candidate who has 5-10+ years of experience in a research-related role (industry or academia based).
- The successful candidate will become a public officer of JAMS (Sydney) Incorporated.
- This role requires a 2-year commitment.
Start Date
This role starts with a March 2022 – June 2022 transition period, with a full hand-over of responsibilities by 30 June 2022.
